This Art Deco platinum ring, made circa 1920, features a deep blue sapphire of Siamese origin, weighing approx. 2.20 carats. Its deep hue is enhanced by a surround of 8/8-cut diamonds, weighing a total of approx. 0.40 carats, graded G-H/VS-SI.
The openwork setting and meticulous basket-weaving are characteristic of the Art Deco style, combining finesse and geometry. The ring weighs 4.00 grams, with a head size of 1.5 x 1.1 cm and an easily adjustable finger circumference of 54.5.
A testament to the refinement of the 1920s-1930s, this ring embodies the timeless elegance and jewelry-making expertise of an era when architecture and art merged into unique creations.
In rupture with the Art-Nouveau movement and yielding to the desire of simplicity, symmetry and aesthetic order, a movement emerges and asserts itself from 1910. But it is after the first world war, in 1925, during the international exhibition of decorative arts that the Art-deco style prevails.
This new jewelry is set with precious or semi-precious stones previously unused. Their design follows the geometric shapes of clothing and accessories and platinum is essential.
