At Héritage de France®, we distinguish between vintage rings and pre-owned rings, also referred to as secondhand rings.
Vintage rings generally refer to jewelry made between the 1950s and the 1980s. They reflect the evolution of jewelry design during the second half of the 20th century, both in the construction of their settings and in the choice of metals and gemstones.
Pre-owned rings, or secondhand rings, are pieces of jewelry that have previously been owned. The term therefore does not refer to a particular period: an antique, vintage, or contemporary ring can all be considered pre-owned jewelry.
Rings from the 1950s and 1960s display a variety of styles, sometimes combining substantial settings with diamonds or colored gemstones.
During the 1970s, yellow gold became particularly prominent. Wide gold bands, sculptural settings, and bold proportions characterized many designs from this period.
The 1980s continued this preference for volume, with often structured settings combining yellow gold, diamonds, and precious gemstones.
These rings are distinguished by their proportions, manufacturing techniques, and the aesthetic choices characteristic of their time.
More recent secondhand rings mainly include jewelry created since the 1990s.
Diamond solitaire rings, Pompadour rings, Toi et Moi designs, halo rings, and diamond-set wedding bands are among the important styles in this category.
These pieces may be creations by independent jewelers or come from renowned jewelry houses such as Cartier, Boucheron, Chaumet, or Van Cleef & Arpels.
Purchasing a pre-owned ring can provide access to designs that are no longer part of current collections while favoring the continued use of existing jewelry.
Our selection includes rings set with diamonds, sapphires, rubies, or emeralds, primarily crafted in yellow, rose, or white gold, as well as platinum.
The examination of a ring focuses particularly on the quality of its gemstones, their proportions, the security of their settings, and the overall condition of the mounting.
For important gemstones, a report issued by an independent gemological laboratory may provide additional information about their characteristics and certain possible treatments.
At Héritage de France®, we select vintage and pre-owned rings for their quality of craftsmanship, gemstones, and jewelry significance. Our collection includes both jewelry from the second half of the 20th century and more recent creations, sometimes signed by renowned jewelry houses.
All of our jewelry is inspected before being offered for sale, with particular attention paid to the condition of the mountings, prongs, and gemstone settings.
Our jewelry store in Paris, located at the entrance to the Village Suisse, is open to the public. You are welcome to visit, see, and try on our vintage and pre-owned rings without an appointment.
