Tourbillon rings in Paris in the late 19th and early 20th centuries

In Paris, between the late 19th century and the early decades of the 20th century, the tourbillon ring became a striking creation in French jewelry.
It is distinguished by a spiral pattern, where the setting seems to wrap around a central stone, most often an old-cut diamond. This dynamic design was intended to capture light from multiple angles and highlight the main stone.
These rings were generally made of 18-karat gold, sometimes combined with platinum for the secondary diamonds, which were often rose-cut or old-fashioned brilliant-cut. The combination of metals provided a solid structure while maintaining a visual delicacy. Produced in Parisian workshops during the Belle Époque, tourbillon rings reflect both the technical mastery and aesthetic inventiveness of the era.
Today, they remain sought after for their dynamism and unique elegance.
