Art Deco platinum and diamond pendants: the geometric elegance of the 1920s

Art Deco pendants in platinum and diamonds, which appeared in the 1920s-1930s, reflect the audacity and refinement of the period. Inspired by modern architecture and pure forms, these jewels feature precise geometric lines and symmetrical compositions, perfectly illustrating the aesthetics of this movement.

Platinum, a metal prized for its strength and brilliance, enhances the brilliance of old-cut diamonds. These stones, often rose-cut, old-fashioned brilliant or cushion-cut, offer a soft, warm brilliance that contrasts with the rigor of the design.

Worn on a fine chain, these pendants added a sophisticated touch to the outfits of elegant women of the time. Today, they continue to seduce with their finesse and uniqueness, bearing witness to exceptional jewelry-making expertise and an era when art and modernity blended harmoniously.

The Art-Deco jewelry (1910-1935)

In rupture with the Art-Nouveau movement and yielding to the desire of simplicity, symmetry and aesthetic order, a movement emerges and asserts itself from 1910. But it is after the first world war, in 1925, during the international exhibition of decorative arts that the Art-deco style prevails.

This new jewelry is set with precious or semi-precious stones previously unused. Their design follows the geometric shapes of clothing and accessories and platinum is essential.

Cartier, Boucheron, Van Cleef and Arpels, Mauboussin are at the forefront of creativity during these years.
